Fine art pieces + detail for a body of work entitled, "re:memory"

This body of work is a direct response to a hit-and-run accident I experienced on my bicycle that resulted in a concussion, memory loss and emotionally charged creativity. We all have connections with memories, whether they inform our identity or add collective value to our experiences; in a sense, we're simply vessels for our memories. When memory becomes fractured or fragmented, healing happens not only in letting go of our identity or value associated with those things, but in the process of rebuilding life.

The pieces themselves vary greatly in medium, size spectrum + execution; emotionally, they reference the cycles of trauma: deconstruction, confrontation, reconstruction, and ultimately redemption. Visually, the pieces reference abstract fragments of memory from topographical, astronomical + cellular perspectives.

The art will be featured in a silent auction at Caffe Medici downtown Austin on Saturday evening, February 25th, to help offset medical costs.
