From Aisha's site: "The Midwater is a layer of the ocean just above the deep sea. Known for its absolute darkness, it's only illuminated in small bouts by the neon glow of light producing fish. In the same way that one wrong collision with an enemy concealed in the dark could be a fatal mistake for one of these creatures, 'Life in the Midwater' is a story of trying to navigate the darkest of times when the threat of one's ultimate demise can be felt lurking all around."
'Burns' haunting vocal gives the song a dark, surreal feeling, befitting of a drift through the ocean or an endless float through space.'
Aisha and I took several adventures around the Austin area to hike, swim, and visually capture the mood of her album.
Hand-painted and digitally manipulated watercolor and gouache make up the cover effect, with Aisha's personal mark of five aligned stripes gracing her solo debut.
